Grammy winning superstar Usher is not wasting any time releasing even more new music.  Hot on the heels of his #1 summer smash “OMG” (featuring BlackEyed Peas frontman will.i.am), he is scheduling the release of a new album, Versus, for August 24.  Yep, you read that right.  It’s barely been six months since the release of platinum selling Raymond vs. Raymond but that’s not stopping him.

Versus is being labelled a sequel to Raymond and will feature music more in the vein of “OMG.”  He describes the album as having a “serious Miami club vibe” and it will feature production by Pitbull (the king of Miami club music) and Max Martin (who successfully launched the careers of Britney Spears and ‘N Sync.)  The first single from the album “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” was released online late on Friday of last week and will be sent to radio this week.  Versus will feature eight new tracks from the pop star.

I am shocked that Usher is rushing out a new album already but he knows and understands how fickle the music industry can be so obviously he is trying to maximize the success of “OMG”.  And with Chris Brown’s career seemingly back on track and Trey Songz readying a new album for September, competition is definitely nipping at his heels (remember that Trey trumped him for Best Male R&B Artist at the BET Awards).  I’ll probably get it though…the man does make good music.
